Unarmed & Armed Basic Drill
Basic drill competition portion consists of 2 different performances, unarmed basic (without rifle) and armed basic (with rifle). Unarmed basic consists of a series of basic drill movements with a platoon of 12 cadets and a guide-on. Cadets are expected to move in unison while regulating various drill movements called by the platoon commander. This includes right/left face, about face, present arms, forward march, etc.
Armed basic consists of the same basic drill movements as unarmed basic, but with a rifle in hand. Cadets are expected to conduct the correct rifle movements while holding it at an accurate angle. This includes left/right shoulder arms, order arms, rifle salute, port arms, etc.
